Individual Counseling

How Does Individual Counseling Work?

1.
Free Consultation

In our free phone consultation, you’ll have the chance to share what led you to reach out, what you’re experiencing right now, and what you hope to get out of therapy. I’ll explain how I work, how I use IFS and EMDR to support clients with challenges like anxiety, depression, trauma, or ADHD, and answer any questions you have about fees, scheduling, and policies. Together, we’ll decide if it feels like a good fit to move forward.

2.
Initial Assessment

Our first session is focused on beginning to build a strong therapeutic relationship. I’ll invite you to share more about your history, current struggles, and what matters most to you, so we can create a collaborative plan for our work together. This includes an initial assessment to better understand your symptoms and experiences, but most importantly, it’s about creating a safe space where you feel seen, supported, and understood.

3.
Ongoing Sessions

IFS and EMDR are process-oriented approaches, which means our work together isn’t about quick fixes or only learning coping skills to reduce symptoms. While we do also help you identify coping skills to give you more capacity in the moment, our deeper focus is on the patterns and wounds that keep you stuck. By engaging with your inner experience and building compassion and internal safety, this supports deeper, more lasting shifts. This creates space to move beyond survival mode and into living a richer, more fulfilling life. We’ll also check in regularly to make sure the pace, frequency, and direction of therapy are working for you.
